Festive Fare Christmas Hamper

A company just ordered 5 Festive Fare Christmas Hampers – a luxurious Christmas basket containing gourmet festive fare like gold truffles, gourmet coffee, cinnamon biscotti, Walkers festive shortbread, mince pies and a large family Christmas Cake. Top it off with quality Woolies crackers and a beautiful Christmas decoration. Wrapped in matching gold Christmas tissue paper, cellophane and gold ribbon.

We packed the hampers in some bad light so the photos don’t do the hampers justice but they looked so stunning. A really great gift for employees and when following up with the client, she commented: “They were thrilled with them. I will be placing a couple more orders and definitely will be using your Company”. Thanks so much!

Bulk Hamper Ordering

We just completed a bulk order of Breakfast Hampers for a client. This was really something special as it was a showcase of South African made gourmet foods. The first is Chaloner Raspberry & Plum Jam – grown on their family farm in Stellenbosch, the orchards are organically fertilised and the jam is made with much care.

Bean There Coffee shows off the best of African coffee, not only is it delicious (people have been raving about this coffee and it has officially bean(!) added to my morning ritual) but they also know exactly how to roast (they call it optimal roast) the coffee to perfection and they are fair-trade so people get a fair price which benefits whole communities. Another great product is Khoisan Tea which makes 100% Organic Rooibos Tea, grown in the backdrop of the Cedarberg mountains.

A new product to us is the Ruscotti – a mixture of a rusk and biscotti – now how clever is that? Very yummy dipped in that Bean There coffee! Last, but definitely not least is the Sally Williams Nougat which is made from macadamia nuts and is a real South African favourite!

The hamper was wrapped with tissue paper and a modern ribbon and tag attached to each one. The client loved the hampers so much that they have just re-ordered as their hampers went down so well! There is also a diabetic version of this hamper, which we can do to any of our hampers – never mind making them halaal or kosher.

A really great order and an absolute pleasure to pack such great South African products into one gift!

A great end of year gift

We have been really busy packing all the end of year gifts and would like to showcase just a few for you.

These first ones were modified to fit the client’s budget as they were for executives and they wanted to spend a little more than what we had on the website www.2give.co.za. They selected two different types of hampers for their clients: the first one was a delicious Divine Wine hamper containing Meerlust Rubicon, a Maxwell & Williams Carafe packed on a tray – but the client wanted a little extra so we added the box of Milktray chocolates and some biltong. The second one they chose was a Gourmet Extravagance hamper which is full of “all you can think of” treats and snacks with an added bottle of Johnnie Walker Black. Talk about a large thank-you gift for the end of the year!

As usual, our hampers are carefully wrapped in tissue paper, cellophane, quality ribbon and then a tag with their corporate logo and a message to the client. The hampers were packed and delivered to Pretoria. The client was thrilled with the hampers!

Christmas in South Africa

By Jackie Niemand, 2give Unique Hampers & Gifts

It’s quite a funny thing, that shape a northern hemisphere foreigner pulls their face when you tell them that it is mid summer in Africa on Christmas Day! I think part of the face-pulling is because they do know we having summer while they were having winter, but they just can’t imagine Christmas without the cold, the snow, the eggnog, hot Christmas pudding, hand-knitted matching jerseys or seeing Christmas lights through steamed up windows. What they don’t know is that we have invented own traditions, lots are still the same like the hot Christmas pudding and roast turkey with gammon but we have also added our own little twists to accommodate the great summer weather.

First of all, Christmas time falls in our summer holidays so most people are already relaxed after 10 days of holidays, in fact – loads of people spend Christmas on their actual vacation on the beach or in the bush. One of my most unique Christmas memories was on a game farm in Sabi Sands and we had Christmas celebrations in the middle of the bush and the ladies sang carols (or more like African carols) in various African languages. We all had a Braai (barbeque) while the rangers were on the look-out for dangerous animals! A rare experience.

Talking about Braai which is another difference in our summer – we have loads of braais! These can also happen on Christmas day surrounded by your family in the sunshine, swimming, maybe having a beer – now isn’t that just what a special occasion should be about. South Africans have also been know to serve their turkey and gammon cold or with accompaniments like fruit and chilled wine. It is all very social and is about bringing many families together or inviting friends whose family live far or are on holiday. We still eat Christmas cake with custard and hand-baked festive shortbread for dessert. Maybe some ice cream thrown in there would never be a bad idea!

One thing that is still based on northern tradition is the Christmas tree, except most of ours are fake. We don’t have a huge abundance of water which makes it expensive to cultivate exotic trees so we just use fake ones inside. We decorate them with tinsel and snow filled ornaments and some people even use hand beaded African decorations like stars, angels balls or even Santa. You can buy on the street corner or at a robot (traffic light) from the wire man (or online in South Africa or in the US, they even make actual Christmas trees from wire and beads which can look really beautiful. Another tree that has been introduced in the last couple of years is a live African Acacia thorn tree which has a mass of thorns near the top of a tree to create a canopy and you hang your decorations from the thorns.

In celebration of our South African Christmas, 2give Unique Hampers have introduced An African Christmas Basket, which is a handmade rustic basket filled with real South African treats like biltong, Ouma rusks, Rooibos tea, Nandos peri peri sauce and Mrs Balls chutney. It also contains one of those handmade beaded Christmas decorations and some Christmas crackers for that festive table! Wrapped in beautiful gold Christmas tissue paper, cellophane and gold ribbon.

We also have a selection of 5 other Christmas Hampers like (although we can wrap any hamper in Christmas wrapping):

Santa’s Little Helper: A children’s Christmas gift hamper with little treasures to put a festive smile on their faces, even “Paint your own decoration” set.

Christmas Bliss : a value for money Christmas hampers with all the essentials like mince pies, festive pretzels, Woolies chocolate balls and some crackers.

Tis’ the Holly-days: more of a funky Christmas hamper with candy canes, cool reindeer tea-light holders, mini Christmas cake and Walkers Festive Shapes Shortbread.

Festive Fare: think gold and luxurious with quality products like Lindor balls, coffee, biscotti, mince pies and large Christmas cake.

Ultimate Christmas Indulgence: What more do you need to celebrate this special occasion than a basket full of luxurious Woolies treats? Wine, food accompaniments and lots of divine indulgences.

South Africa is called the as we are a mixture of types of people and that includes all types of religions. There are many people in South Africa who don’t celebrate Christmas but there are some special things about Christmas time in South Africa – it is hot, people are on holiday so they are relaxed and we all love to spend long days surrounded by family and so happy to be in such a special place that has a very unique Christmas. One that is a mixture of traditional and new, one is that all our own – a real South African Christmas! If you wish to use this article on your website, please do not change it is any way and make sure you keep the links in it active. Bosses Day – 16 October 2009

By Jackie Niemand, 2give Unique Hampers & Gifts

Originally started in America in the 1950’s by a daughter who honored her boss/ Father by registering Bosses’ Day and like most “Hallmark” holidays, the world now seems to have adopted Bosses Day as an annual event. We think she was quite sneaky as she registered Bosses Day on 16 October – which happened to fall on his Birthday so she only had to give him one gif

Did you know? There are different types (sometimes referred to as species!) of bosses – in fact, the experts say there are 21 types, with names like: The Screamer Boss, The Fearmonger Boss, The Manipulator Boss, The Clueless Boss, The Old-Schooler, The Teflon Boss  (any blame slides right off them!), The Buddy Boss, The God Boss and The Lone Wolf Boss. These are just the funny ones, but when you actually read the article – some are quite true and very interesting. They help you to understand what goes through your boss’ mind. There is a saying that “people join companies and leave bosses”. You never get to choose your boss and studies show that 80% of people who resign from organisations do so because of their immediate manager

We have found some advice on How to Manage your Boss with hot tips like: always keep your boss in the loop, remind them how valuable you are, learn all you can about your boss’ career and cultivate common personal interests. There is some very entertaining feedback after the article as well!

We, on a simpler level, we have divided bosses into 2 categories:

1.)   The Stretcher Boss – The boss that stretches you to your best. Whether it is in your actual work, knowledge and experience or other qualities you have now required, like: patience, tolerance, coolness, quietness, anger management, help you to find a better job etc. The types of qualities that stretch you to be a better person!

2.)   The Great Boss – The boss that understands, helps, guides, has an open door policy, communicates, leads by example, encourages, is fair, motivates, etc. The types of qualities that help you to be a better person! If you are looking for one of these bosses, click here.

Aaaaah ha! So we have it, all bosses are good – they all have your best interests at heart! In light of this, we would like to give you some ideas for Bosses Day: For Male Bosses, we have the Braai and Outdoor Hampers, Golf Hampers, Executive Hampers and Beer Glasses or what about a Gourmet & Alcohol Hamper? For the Females, a Pamper Hamper or a delicious Wine Hamper?

Bosses Day falls on a Friday this year, which is really convenient to give both of your selves the afternoon off! Only kidding, what we are really trying to say is that you must order by 14h00 on Thursday, 15 October 2009 for deliveries in Johannesburg and Pretoria (and most Major Centres) and at least 3-4 working days before for outlying areas.

Take a look at our website for more ideas or we can make up a custom hamper for you-  just drop us a mail on info@2give.co.za.
